SASANIAN KINGS. Bahram V, 420-438. Drachm (Silver, 30 mm, 4.14 g, 3 h). Draped bust of Bahram V to right, wearing elaborate crown; to left and right, ‘mzdysn bgy ˗ wlhlʾn MLKAn M[LKA]’, i.e. ‘mazdēsn bay Wahrām šāhān šāh’ (‘The Mazda-worshipping Lord, Bahram, King of Kings’ in Pahlavi). Rev. Fire altar with ribbons, flanked by two attendants; head of Bahram V on the shaft; deteriorated Pahlavi legend to left and right, where date and mint are expected to be indicated. Göbl type I/2. SNS III/1, type Ib1/2. Struck from somewhat worn dies, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
